15 North Roadside Kitchen, sibling to the Charleston area's 17 North, is slated to open at 1513 Montford Drive in August, with chef Brett McKee and Steve Palmer planning a menu inspired by "moms all over the world," they say.
Look for "chef-driven food at a pleasing price point," according to Palmer. Expect fare focused on local ingredients; the menu's not set yet, but possibilities include "Old School Deviled Eggs," crispy blue crab fritters, boneless buttermilk fried chicken, and shrimp and crawfish Creole, with entrees ranging from about $12-$19. The place will be dinner-only, Monday-Saturday.
McKee and Palmer, who also operate Oak Steakhouse in Charleston as part of The Indigo Road, plan to expand "throughout the Southeast."
Thank goodness. What a quantum leap for that space and Montford's restaurant row.
ReplyDeleteAwesome - now what is going to happen with the old Champs/Quaker Steak & Lube?????
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I can't wait.
ReplyDeletequaker steak is slated to become a monkey joe's, burger king...or both.
ReplyDeleteOne of the last great parts of old Charlotte is gone. I knew as soon as I moved to Florida it would happen. Actually I knew it was for sale already, I was just hoping it would go to someone who would keep the Smokehouse alive.
ReplyDeleteThis really saddens me. I am going to miss that BBQ, O rings and Grecian Chicken.
