Barlowe, who went to Johnson & Wales in both Providence and Charlotte, includes Mama Ricotta's on his resume and lists stints at legendary French Laundry and elBulli. Barlowe competed in 2013's Fire in the Rock chef contest and appeared on "Chopped" on the Food Network.

Dinner Tuesday-Sunday, with lunch Thursday-Friday and brunch Saturday-Sunday; 8470 Bellhaven Blvd.; 704-595-7710.

His parents live in Hickory. Tried to get organic CSA up and running summer before last. He's been in Bermuda between then and now.

Bonkers location in the Coulwood neighborhood of Charlotte, in the old "Barefooters" building.

Chef dismantled old barn and used wood and tin to transform building. Built wicking beds and helped paint. And he cooks good food!

His location is in a really up and coming part of Charlotte, and the building has been completely transformed from it's last incarnation as "Barefooter's. He didn't win Chopped, but I read that his showing landed him his last job in Bermuda so he must have done pretty well.

As someone who lives within 4 miles of this location I can tell you this location is far from up and coming. I wish him well but this location will be a challenge

This resturant is just what Charlotte needs. Not too far from downtown and in a quite neighborhood. I had a roast chicken dish with homemade spaetzle that was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to going back and will have it again. It's not cheap food, but I would rather pay for healthy food than pay for meds.

Tried this restaurant this past Tuesday, so one week after it opened. I would never have known that that this place was brand new. The staff were true professionals & my group was surrounded by other diners, on a Tuesday Night!
Seems like from all appearances, this place is what many in the area have been looking for.

I was very impressed with the delicious food & the overall look of this restaurant. Do yourselves a favor & go eat great food!
