Cyros Sushi in the SouthPark area has closed after troubles in the partnership between Cy Santos and Ro Lawsin could not be worked out, said Lawsin. He says he and chef Nobu plan to team up "to try to come back; we're not sure what yet."
This makes the third of six restaurants I named among last year's best to either close or go through the departure of a name chef; Bryan Emperor left Kalu, and Tim Groody left Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse. Hmmm...

Noticed that. Hopefully they stay here at least.
Oh, I'm so disappointed in this! Cyros had become our go to place for sushi as we had grown tired of the nightclub atmosphere of Nikko's and the general loudness of RuSan's. Cyros had a wonderful atmosphere where one could enjoy a meal without feeling like they were in the middle of a party.
Time to find somewhere else to try. How is Pisces in Midtown?
Hey, there is still time! COuld be getting named by you was THE KISS OF DEATH!
my favorite sushi in charlotte....
Who are you SCWABB, Nostradamus? Why don't you give us more news on a great place than just your stupid predictions!!!
Anon 2:27...
Don't bother with Picses. Went there for lunch and had a horrible experience. Room 112 in Uptown is by far the best place in Charlotte. Try their Pink Floyd roll. Best roll EVER!!

I actually like Pisces - I've always had good experiences there. But for the best, I agree that Room 112 uptown is it. I just discovered it recently, and it's awesome!
so sad, love this place, and i'm a vegetarian, go w/ my family who are the true sushi lovers, hope you can find a a workout!! just came by--loved that treehugger!!! :(
I love Pisces - I just don't like their all-you-can-eat lunch system. It takes too long. Order off the regular menu or try them for dinner.
This stinks! Cyro's had become our favorite spot in Charlotte! Great chefs, great staff, great food and great sake!!
Love Nobu! Where ever he goes next (hopefully he will continue making sushi!) you can bet we will follow him!
I am so sorry because they had a great menu and wonderful service. For a small place, Sushi 101 is great. It is a neighborhood kind of place but the service is great and the sushi is wonderful.
you have to be kidding! you have to be rich to even THINK like this. Who cares? good riddance. please get a life.
Sushi 101 is garbage. Enjoyed my Pisces experience. And I'm in love with Ginbu...the Cherry Blossom roll is the best ever. The only roll that could challenge was found at Cyros. This is unfortunate.
good riddance....take Pisces with you.....
We're getting ripped off in Charlotte. We need a decent sushi Buffet like Minado in NJ/NY area.
Well, now I have to chime in since Sushi 101 came into it.
I sat at the bar eating there one evening and watched them fry shrimp and ice cream in the same vat of oil, repeatedly.
It was disgusting and I worried for people who ordered a fried ice cream and had allergies to seafood. I don't know if they would be effected by it and I suppose if they're eating fried ice cream, they have larger problems, but still..
never went back.
I agree, Pisces is a great place for sushi unless u want to spend a lot more money going other places uptown
Boo. Really enjoyed Cyros! Have had nothing but good experiences at Pisces (been three times), but it just doesn't feel as "neighbord-y" as Cyros did. Chefs/staff didn't make me feel as warm and fuzzy as Cyros. Plus their sushi/sake was always amazing!! Too bad they couldn't work out their issues...
new zealand cafe...misleading name, great sushi. great sushi at a great price
brian...it's a big world outside of concord dude. get out more.
New Zealand Cafe is the bomb on Monroe road..
1. Tokyo
2. New Zealand Cafe
3. Pisces
4. Ginbu
5. Ru San's if you're desperate.
Cyros was good. Sorry to see it go.
