'Pewter Rose Day,' declares Mayor Foxx

I don't remember this happening before:

"WHEREAS, Pewter Rose is a success story of humble beginnings rooted in partnerships,
cooperation, and dedication to developing regional identity in the food culture of one of the
South’s most treasured cities grew to epic stature of enduring legacy; and

WHEREAS Mrs. Susie Peck became, in 25 years of service a principal operator, a symbol of
grace, elegance, fairness, gentility and steadfastness in female leadership; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of people over 25 years, were made to feel welcome and
received exceptional cuisine, libation, service and hospitality, regardless of age, race, gender,
sexual orientation or political affiliation; and

WHEREAS, Pewter Rose displayed an ethos of supporting local business people and North
Carolina industries including farming, fishing, dairy, wine, floral, food, artists, craftsmen,
musicians, handymen, other neighborhood and regional restaurateurs, and more was fostered in
the spirit of leadership through mindful examples:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Anthony R. Foxx, Mayor of Charlotte, do hereby proclaim
February 13, 2013 as

“PEWTER ROSE DAY”

in Charlotte and commend its observance to all citizens."

I got stuck with an online coupon deal for Pewter Rose from Half Off Depot and they won't refund my money. I think it was WRONG of Pewter Rose to be setting up these "deals" when they were going to be immediately closing!!!!

Most Groupon type sites will refund your money or offer a credit if the restaurant closes down. Info for Half Off come refunds can be found here:

REFUND POLICY

Half Off Depot will refund the purchase of any unredeemed voucher if notified within 5 days of the purchase.

After the five day period, all sales are final unless you are unable to redeem an unexpired voucher because the merchant refuses to honor the voucher or the merchant has gone out of business, in which case we will provide you with store credit in an amount equal to what you paid for your voucher.

In my experience in the restaurant industry, most locally owned businesses that close rarely plan on it. I believe if they had a choice, Pewter Rose would be busy putting together a Valentine's day menu instead standing empty. I'm proud to have been a part of such a legacy and will miss it for a long time to come, especially when I drive down South Blvd.
