Top 10s from all over

Parents magazine's list of the 10 best restaurant chains for families, based on an analysis of calories, fat and sodium for menu items, plus availability of options such as organic milk and antibiotic-free chicken, plus conveniences such as call-ahead seating, crayons, etc.:
1. Jason’s Deli
2. Cosi
3. Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes
4. Red Lobster
5. Chipotle
6. Noodles & Company
7. Red Robin
8. Mimi’s Cafe
9. Panera Bread
10. P.F. Chang’s

From allmenus.com comes an assortment of restaurant names dubbed worst, including 9021 Pho, Dirty Dick's Crab House, Spicy Pickle, Han Dynasty (the website makes this one more apparent: handynasty.com), Windy City Wieners, Tony Boloney's Pizzeria, King Dong Chinese Restaurant, Bite Me Pizza, Pu Pu Hot Pot and Gashouse Pizza.

And, in case those aren't sufficiently sickening, take a look at Zagat's list of 10 "craziest food challenges" here. Since the very first one is the "Nine Pounder" at a D.C. chain called BGR -- a burger in which the meat weighs nine pounds but the whole sandwich actually hits 15 (you get a bottle of Maalox) -- I can't bear to type in the rest ... But that photo up there? It's the "Bacon Bomb" at Chicago's Paddy Long's: bacon woven around 5 pounds of sausage, pork and beef. Yes, it comes with fries.

Isn't that Guy Fieri's face in that middle bacon bomb?

Apparently some of the worst food in the world is what's best for families.

I consider PF Chang's at Phillips Place to be one of the rudest restaurants in Charlotte. I would never think of taking my children there to eat.

How much did they pay you Helen? Some of those I am sure many have never heard of!

1. Jason’s Deli

Not a good place for a family to sit in the place. To hard to look at the menu with kids in tow. What if one in the family doesn't like sandwiches? In fact two of our boys would eat nothing on the menu.

2. Cosi

Don't know what it is.

3. Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes

Don't know what it is.

4. Red Lobster

Way too expensive for what you get. It would cost over $100 fro a family of five to eat dinner - no way.

5. Chipotle

Ever try to seat a family of five in this place? Plus you have to have everyone's preferences rehearsed before getting in line.

6. Noodles & Company

This is the worst. I can't even figure out the menu let alone my kids.

7. Red Robin

Who wants a $10 hamburger x 5 people? Plus $2 cokes? With tip it's over $60 for hamburgers?

8. Mimi’s Cafe

I have not idea what this is.

9. Panera Bread

Have you ever tried to find a table for two at this place? Now try 3? I admit the food is great but the setup doesn't work for 5 people.

10. P.F. Chang’s

I've never had a decent meal there. But there is no way i would risk it with 5 people.

I have four children and have never based what restaurant I take my children to on whether they have organic milk and antibiotic-free chicken....Also when my wife and I go out on a date it may be PF Chang but when the kids come along it is Pei Wei, same food but for a family price....

Guess it's a gurantee that you can go into any one of these at any given time and be swamped with out of control kids whose parents sit around while the children run wild! No thanks! Too many great restaurants have been ruined that way.

9:21...it is painfully obvious that you (and your inability to control your children) represent the problem, not the restaurants.
