Dine out, do (a LOT of) good

Charlotte's Taste of the Nation is April 14, the 15th annual execution of this fundraiser to help end childhood hunger. At the Atrium uptown (401 S. Tryon St.), starting with a preview hour at 6 p.m., you'll find signature dishes from more than 20 restaurants and culinary schools, plus live and silent auctions, live entertainment, and wine, beer, cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks. In the auction: a portrait session, a puppy, a Panther-hosted patio party and more.

Among participating restaurants: 131 Main, Basil Thai, Bonefish Grill, BrickTop's, Brixx, Chima, Ember Grille, Enso, Firebirds, Gallery, M5, McCormick & Schmick's, Mez, Mimosa Grill, Morton's, Rocky River Grille, Savannah Red, The Liberty and Upstream.

Tickets are $85 if you want to attend the preview hour, $60 for general admission.

Here's a video peek, where you can also buy tickets.
