You have got to be kidding me. I love that place, I hope they are just shutting down for a little while to open a newer building.
Seriously? It is packed all the time!!! You can't even get a table unless its 2PM on a Wednesday.
Cryptic...and sad.
The people who own the building (ballentynes) wont re-new the lease and are going to try an take over the whole concept NOT cool! They are opening the second location Pinkys soon!! Sucks I live in that neighborhood and will not be going once they leave!!
WHAT THE HELL?! Give me details! When I was in high school, our debate was always whether to skip lunch/class to go to The Penguin (a farther drive) or Moosehead. The Penguin still has the best fried pickles and one of the best atmospheres of any restaurant. I sometimes lie to people (I guess like I did to teachers) to get out of doing things just so that I can go to The Penguin.
The money-hungry jerks are at it again... The fine folks that run this Charlotte icon are being forced out. The Penguin will still be there, but it won't be the same after 10/24. Corporate America screws small business AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That place is just NASTY.
I can't stand that place & it's management etc. Good bye with a smile if this is accurate.
If this is accurate, what a shame. I have been there many times and always thought the draw is the uniqueness of the whole place. By definition, you can't franchise that. I guess all those dollar signs floating around make people do dumb things.
if you can't stand the Penguin or it's management, then I hope you stay in the Ballantyne/SouthPark area where you belong..
But if you did love it as much as I did, see you at the Diamond when it opens! ;-)
