Updated: Emeril's opens for lunch

Update: An alert reader let me know the e2 website listed the burger at $13, and I've confirmed that with the restaurant -- the original menu had it at $16, but general manager Jeff Wakem says he decided to drop the price.

e2, Emeril's Eatery, begins serving lunch Feb. 28. The lineup, which will be offered 11 a.m.-2 p.m. weekdays, includes:
* "The Burger" for $13: house-ground sirloin with aged white cheddar, aioli and hand-cut fries.
* Pork cheek ragu ($14), with fresh pasta.
* Chef's daily pie (from the wood-burning pizza oven).
Also on the menu are items from the dinner menu such as chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits and more. 135 Levine Avenue of the Arts uptown (between Tryon and Church streets); 704-414-4787.

I love Emeril but hate to think he might just be carpetbagging this restaurant for the DNC. Anyone know if the tables and chairs in his place are rentals or not? That should provide the answer.

$16 burger?? In this economy? I don't think so...

I hope Emeril knows what he can do with a $16.00 burger.

yeah 16 buck burger, There's this little place called the Fish and chicken corner on north Tryon about 2-3 mins from downtown. And for under $7.00, you get a huge order of steak fries(salt or unsalted your choice). A double cheese burger (loaded with everything and bigger than a defensive linebackers two fists put together) and a large (fill three 20 oz bottles easy) pepsi product/lemonade, or homemade tea.

So yeah morons of downtown keep your overpriced garbage i'm going somewhere where I get more true BAM for my buck.

$2.95 at the Yorkmount Cafe, and it's probably a better burger.

I'm definitely going to be checking out Emeril's restaurant here soon. However, ordering a $16 burger I will not!

@MoosewithaJ:
Have you ever heard the phrase "quality over quantity". If you don't want a $16 burger then don't get one. There is All American Burger right down the block if you want something cheaper. Just like you have the choice not to get the steak at DelFrisco's, you always have Outback. As in every aspect of life, there are the "have's" and have not’s".
I will order the $16 burger and hopefully enjoy it as Charlotte needs more "non chain" restaurants where the staff doesn't wear name tags and have chatskis on their shirts.

@FEBRUARY 27, 2012 4:50 PM - You know sadly, there are people that actually consider Outback to be upscale dining, LOL. Then again they are probably the same people that never venture near uptown either. I welcome Emeril's restaurant here as well!

If you purchase a burger for $16.00, I better never hear you complain about the cost of fuel!

I'll never forget the Emeril episode where he feeds red snapper to the guests in the front row. You should have seen the look on their face - gagging on it! Good burgers don't cost $16 but Emeril just wanted to kick it up a few notches.

To Anonymous@4:50PM, I'm not impressed with Outback. Ate there once, never again. But I've been in 'uptown' Charlotte and I'm even less impressed there.

If you think it a waste of money to buy a great $13 burger, I'm sure Chili's will have your table waiting for you so you can save three bucks.

Big (Bad) Daddy's has great burgers and there are lot of places that have great burgers for less then $10.

the burger price did go down, but it is very popular and delicious. Its not emerills call on prices, thats what the chef de cuisine does, just so u all know. the gm then decides if the price should go down, and trust me, the servers there make sure they let it be known when the item is not worth the money or what they hear from the customers, and as of know, the burger is being ordered daily by regular everyday working men and women. like said above, its the experience and preference, just like if u go out to dinner, you should know that tipping is a part of it, and just cause your mad that the burger is 13, its not the servers fault, they dont price anything, and if anything, we speak up for customers. so ya, if u dont want to pay or tip, then fell free to go to the lil places on the corner, or hey mcdonalds has a 1 menu for u, and no tip or courtesy needed

the chairs are bought and paid for, not rentals, thats dumb to say.
