Fran's Filling Station kicks off a new menu Nov. 12. Look for a new section, which owner Fran Scibelli has dubbed "When something light will suffice," of dishes such as crabcakes and spinach/ricotta gnocchi, and four kinds of meatballs served in both half and full portions.
The lunch menu has been revamped as well. 2410 Park Road; 704-372-2009.
Also new: Fran's at the 7th Street Public Market is beginning to serve breakfast, and has added panini sandwiches and other dishes. Plans there include a prepared food section and cooking classes later in the month.

From a former customer, they have 2 huge flaws to fix. Their takeout service was horrible. Food always comes out cold, and takes 20 minutes over their estimated time. The service there is also lacking. Wait staff clueless, slow, and rude. Rather than fix the menu, they should focus on other areas that are driving customers away. It's a shame, because I live 2 blocks from them...
What is the deal with you and Frans? I have a running joke with some of my coworkers that with all the positive press that you give her and all of her high finishes and features in your brackets that you must be related. In my experiences Fran has been extremely rude and the place is insanely overpriced. Food is okay. This opinion comes after three chances that I have given her/her place to make sure my conclusions were fair. I don't care what press she gets, I will never step foot in her restaurant again. In my opinion, she needs to focus on customer service.
She should definitely take some pointers from her brother in how she treats her staff and customers.
These three comments are, for lack of a better word, silly. My mother, and lawyer, always say that you should never put something in writing when there is hard evidence that contradicts your statement. As I peruse Fran’s menu online, I am noticing that there is not one entrĂ©e over $14.95. Maybe you and I have different opinions on what is considered over-priced, and that is fair, but for the rest of us who don’t enjoy Wendy’s dollar menu, I find this to be quite reasonable. I have been to hundreds of restaurants in my life and rarely does the owner come around and check on everyone’s meal like Fran does. Her food is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and she pays attention to every single dish that comes out. Excited to see what Fran has in store next.
